Manitoba Employer of Choice
Small and medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) throughout Manitoba were looking for ways to deal with their labour force issues and to maximize productivity and profitablity. Attracting, recruiting and retaining skilled workers and getting peak performance top the list of challenges. Since many SMEs have achieved success by becoming Employers of Choice Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Manitoba Division, with support from Manitoba Competitiveness, Training and Trade and Western Ecomonic Diversification Canada, began the EOC Pilot Project to assist Manitoba SMEs to work towards becoming Employers of Choice.
Between May 2004 and March 2007, 20 companies participated in the pilot program to test and refine the process and assessment tools.
The results of the project have proven to be very successful.

IIP
In the UK, 30,000 business employing over 27% of workforce, have achieved a national standard called IIP Status (Investors in People). The retention rate for these companies is 90%. IIP provides evidence on meeting IIP status theory.
While this standard integrated well with other quality standards such as ISO 9000, and is an effective process, research revealed that it would be costly for other countries to purchase and use this system.
